Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies & Similar Tech?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser. We also use local storage, pixels and software development kits (SDKs) in our app. Together, these help us remember you, keep the site secure, measure performance and show ads.

2. Types of Cookies/SDKs We Use

Below is a plain‑English list. For each type we explain examples, why we set them and how long they typically live. Durations are maximums; many cookies expire sooner.

  • Strictly necessary

    • What: auth/session tokens, CSRF tokens, load balancer cookies
    • Why: log you in, keep you logged in, route traffic reliably, protect against attacks
    • Examples: session_id, csrf_token
    • Lifespan: session or a few hours/days
  • Preferences

    • What: UI settings (theme, locale, dismissals)
    • Why: remember your choices so you don’t have to reset every visit
    • Examples: theme, locale
    • Lifespan: up to 12 months
  • Analytics & performance

    • What: event IDs, session IDs, anonymised IP fragments
    • Why: understand usage, debug problems, improve features
    • Examples: PostHog (ph_*), Vercel Analytics, Firebase Analytics
    • Lifespan: 13–18 months (we cap raw event retention to 18 months)
  • Advertising

    • What: Google Ads identifiers, consent strings
    • Why: serve personalised or non‑personalised ads, measure ad performance, avoid showing the same ad endlessly
    • Examples: _gads, IDE, ANID
    • Lifespan: set by Google; we don’t extend beyond 24 months

4. Managing Cookies In Your Browser

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Here are guides for popular browsers (links open in a new tab):

Disabling essential cookies may break core functionality (login, checkout, etc.).

5. SDK-Specific Opt-Outs

If you use our mobile/web app, some SDKs provide their own opt-outs or APIs:

  • PostHog: implement posthog.opt_out_capturing() to disable tracking for a user
  • Firebase Analytics: disable collection with setAnalyticsCollectionEnabled(false)
  • Google Ads: users can opt out of personalised ads at Google Ad Settings

6. Updates To This Policy

We’ll update this page if our cookie/SDK usage changes. Check the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we’ll notify you (e.g. via banner).
